Subject: Encounters with Jesus - Jesus and the Man Born Blind

Jesus and the Man Born Blind

Encounters with Jesus

Jesus’ miracles are a glimpse of the New Heaven and the New Earth, the Kingdom of God, the world put right again. Some act as if what is wrong in this world is somehow inevitable or the fault of those who suffer. Others are concerned about political correctness and get angry with those who would shake things up to help those in need. Jesus’ encounter with the man born blind demonstrates God’s concern for those who are suffering and his determination to not let man made traditions take precedence over doing the right thing.

Enjoy Church at Home with Your Family

Staying connected to God and each other is important to help us deal with everything going on around us, including fear and isolation. But what do you do when you just can’t go to church? This is a great opportunity to teach your kids that our God isn’t confined to a building. He is with us everywhere! Here are some ideas and resources to help your family worship and grow in your faith at home:

Getting Started

Start by creating an environment to help prepare your hearts for worship.Gather together. Remove distractions. Light a candle.

St. Luke’s will stream both a Traditional Service at 9:30 am and Fuel service at 11:00 am on Sunday morning. You can watch live or whatever time works for your family.

Talk about what you learned. Watch our Generations Family Time video at 10:30 am for some talking points. Easy questions for any Bible lesson: What happened? What did I learn? How does that change the way I live?

Do a hands-on activity together. This really helps our kids learn better! Check out this page for ideas of what you can do with items you might already have around the house.

What can you thank God for? What do you want to ask God for?

Bless each other

A powerful way to end is sharing a blessing from God with meaningful touch (a hug, kiss, sign of the cross,etc.). Some examples might be: “God bless you, I love you!” or “Jesus loves you and so do I!” or “[Name], there is nothing you can ever say or do that will ever stop God’s awesome heart from always loving you.”

Online Bible Study

In light of the most recent recommendations, we have decided to postpone our on campus Bible studies and offer an online study through RightNow Media. Join us as we journey together through “Psalm 23” by Matt Chandler. Use this study link, and pdf study guide. Listen in as our Pastors talk about this in their online live sessions during the week. What an incredible time for us to come together in God’s Word in new ways.

If you do not have an account yet for RightNow Media, now is the time to take advantage of this free resource. One of the great benefits you will receive is the ability to do a Bible study anywhere! RightNow Media is available on your computer and any mobile device. Just download the app from your App Store and log in. Need an account? Click Here!
