Peter the bold, confident follower of Jesus was sure he had what it takes to face whatever might come his way. And yet he stumbles and falls. Jesus alone is faithful. Jesus stands completely alone. Rejected by the religious leaders, condemned by the civil authority, abandoned by his friends, and at the end forsaken by God. And that Jesus did willingly for Peter and all of us who sometimes imagine that we can manage life by ourselves. We “draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
Dear ,
A note from Pastor Thompson: Times like this when we are in quarantine, separated from our friends and family, the darkness of Good Friday seems all too real. I know for many of you the days have been long and the nights restless. It seems that a cloud has settled over our world. Fortunately for you and for me this cloud of darkness has lost. As we read in John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” No matter where you are this Good Friday, know that the darkness of this day leads to the light of Easter morning when we will say in voices heard throughout our community He is risen! He is risen indeed, Hallelujah! Have a blessed Good Friday!
