COMMUNION Our worship and the celebration of the Lord's Supper is something that we hold very sacred. We have been asked whether it's possible to hold a communion service in the midst of our current circumstances. After much prayer and conversation, we have decided that we will not do so at this time. As the pandemic continues to grow, it seems unwise to bring people in contact with one another. Once we see 'the curve is declining', we can explore our options further for a safe way to join together and celebrate the sacrament.
We are not in uncharted territory. There have been times in history when churches could not meet for one reason or another. In Oviedo, the founding families (for over 20 years!) were only able to celebrate communion when a traveling pastor stopped in. It is important to remember that "The forgiveness of sins is not prevented when one cannot commune..." (CTCR Statement - Communion and Covid-19 March 2020) Our desire is always to hold the Lord's Supper sacred and hold it in a way that glorifies the Lord in our actions.
Continue to pray for the church through these times so that all we do and say will witness to the love of God in Christ Jesus our Savior.
